A green gradient forms a triangle in a martini glass. The festive color implies something Irish, something lucky, and yes, something minty.

When it comes to St Patty's, nothing feels more symbolic than a shamrock. According to a Google search, there's no real consensus on what genus the true shamrock really is, and when it comes to the cocktail version, the same could be said.

Originally, a Shamrock Cocktail calls for something Irish, something chilly, something vermouthy, something minty, and Chartreuse (according to Difford's guide). The ones we concocted is a smaller, less serious version of the original which focuses only on the Irish, the Vermouth, and the Mint.

That being said, there's a debate on whether to use Peppermint Schnapps or Crème de Menthe (more spearminty). So we tried em both. Personally, I find peppermint to make for a more "violent" version of the cocktail where the spearmint allows for more of a balance with the dry vermouth (a combo that I've never tried).
