An orange peel spear is sitting inside of a glass with a large ice cube and some golden looking liquid. Could be a pot o' gold, or it could be an Old Fashioned variation.

Irish Whiskey can be used in a variety of ways, but what better way to compare it with other whiskys, whiskeys, and wizkeys than in an Old Fashioned?

I find Jameson to be a very smooth whiskey. It goes down cleanly, I have very little gutteral reactions to it, and it kinda reminds me of flapjacks. That being said, mixing it with a bit of sweetness and some citrus does nothing but improve my already favorable opinion of this historical spirit.

This has so far been my favorite Old Fashioned made on stream to date, and I believe it has much to do with the liquid simple syrup (which I'm realizing is what I prefer over the muddled sugar cubes). This recipe utilized both, so the sweetness was a bit overpowering, so next time I'll probably dial it back.

  • 1/4 oz (7 ml) Simple Syrup
