Dark shiny brown liquid in a dice-adorned glass. There's an orange peel on the bottom that looks as if it were encased in the amber that the drink appears to be.

Essentially an Irish twist on a Manhattan, the Emerald cocktail is a riff worth remembering. Having tried a few different variations of a Manhattan recently, this iteration benefits greatly from the use of Jameson as the grain-distilled spirit of choice.

Compared to a Manhattan made with a Rye Whisky, this one is worth the separate name since it tastes and feels like a different drink despite the simple substitutions. Next time you've got some Manhattan components serendipitously juxtaposed to a bottle of Jameson, give this one a try.
