The term "Dark 'n' Stormy" is a registered trademark of the maker of Goslings rum and ginger beer since 1991. The term refers to a recipe the is made up of 2 ingredients: Ginger Beer and Goslings Rum.

That drink is not the one we made this evening (lest we want to infringe on a corporations intellectual property). This concoction is known as the "Dark & Stormy" (see the difference?), and it adds lemon and lime juice to the aforementioned recipe.

Sipping on this felt like sipping on a piece of history. Maybe it was the lil' ship we placed atop the water that gave an air of conquest and adventure. Maybe it was the two-toned appearance of gray seas affixed to an amber sky lit ablaze by an oncoming hurricane. Or perhaps it was the ginger beer that's been sitting in the closet unopened for almost a year (I fell out of making Dark 'n' Stormys and Mules a while back). Whatever it may have been, for those who like it rummy and tart, this ship ride is one worth taking despite the weather.
