Straw-colored drink with lime peels visible at the bottom of the glass. They look a bit... mangled. Or perhaps they've been muddled?

The final cocktail that lay within the heart of trivia cards was none other than Brazil's national Cachaça cocktail, the Caipirinha!

At some point I'd like to do a real deep-dive into Cachaça and the cocktails we can make with it! It is a spirit similar to rum in that it comes from sugarcane, however rum comes mostly from molasses, a byproduct of the sugar process after boiling. Cachaça is fermented right from the sugarcane juice itself!

To me, the bottle of Leblon that I have is like whiffing a bunch of super-ripe bananas, and it's such a delightful scent. I haven't quite figured out the best way to use it for my palate, but pairing it with something fruity or citrusy is a great place to start.

In this iteration of the caipirinha, we muddle limes at the bottom of the glass with sugar and then top it with our spirit. Important to note here is that although this is the most well-known way of creating a caipirinha, there are variations that may change the type of fruit being muddled!
