We really couldn't compare summer drinks without at least considering the Aperol Spritz. Like, this drink has gone down as being the Perfect Summer drink. I'd never actually mixed one for myself before this stream happened, but that was so I could remain unbiased to give the aforementioned contenders a better shot.
I went into this wanting to see a fair fight and a fair fight I saw, but I feel so bad now.
There is something just so refreshing and inviting about an Aperol Spritz. It's bubbly, citrusy, bittersweet. This cocktail hits me in all of my favorite places. Aperol is just slightly more sweet than Campari, which supports my already-established Negroni habit. I have distinct memories of enjoying fresh oranges during the summer days of my youth. And it's so easy to make!
I can absolutely see why folks all over revere this summer spritz. It truly does live up to its name, and I think this is the start of a new chapter in my mixology career. There's more to bitter red spirits than just Campari. There's a whole world of spritzes. And it's not about the one summer drink I think it may be about the journey we took to get here.
In any case, what are you planning to drink this summer? There's plenty more libations that evoke that refreshing, easy-to-grab, and downright crushable aura. Please feel free to let me know your favorite, and we'll see you out there in the sun!
