For our Progress Pride, Rainbow cocktail stream, it naturally follows that we begin with the passionate color red! We begin this journey across the color-coded cocktail rainbow with this drink!

The Angostura sour is exactly what it sounds like. T'is a sour drink (egg white included) with Angostura aromatic bitters as the base spirit. It's one of the most aesthetically pleasing drinks that I'm aware of because of the striking contrast that can be seen between that egg-foam induced head and the body of the drink. For more artistic options, you can use a chilled-glass that will slowly come to temperature as you pour as well as add additional drops of bitters on top that you can draw in as if they were intricate latte-foam art!

Bitters in general can have a very potent flavor to them, and Angostura is no exception. Powerful notes of cinnamon and cabinet spices provide a vintage context to this pleasantly balanced drink. Somehow, the fullness of the bitters significantly mellows out the poignancy of the lemon juice, making this combo extremely palatable for my particular disposition. Imagine a boozy cross between a Red-Hot candy and a Lemonhead. Super tasty, well-textured and damn does it put on a bit of a show!

Personally, I'm all for finding more drinks that utilize greater-than-normal proportions of cocktail bitters. So if anyone's got some more recommendations then please feel free to send em my way so we can try em out together!
